Innovation Acceleration Partnership fellowship opportunity

Washington University in Saint Louis, in conjunction with the Universityof Missouri, the Center for Emerging Technologies, and Innovate SaintLouis, is now offering positions in one of the nation’s top researchenvironments. This is our second year of funding from the NationalScience Foundation for the Innovation Acceleration Partnership (IAP)Fellowships. IAP is also supported by a large number of communityorganizations in the St. Louis and Columbia, Missouri, region.We seek individuals with an advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in thebiomedical engineering, life sciences, nanotechnology, or medicalfields, who have an interest in expanding their understanding oftechnology transfer and commercialization, or individuals with MBA or JDdegrees who have strong academic or practical science credentials.Fellowships are full‐time for a 13‐month term, and will start in October2009, overlapping the current fellows’ term by one month. A competitivesalary and benefits are provided.The fellowship begins with an intense four‐month training andorientation cycle with support from Washington University’s SkandalarisCenter for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Office of TechnologyManagement, as well as community partners including the BioGeneratornonprofit seed venture fund. At the conclusion of this orientation andtraining cycle the fellows will have the opportunity to work withfaculty to select a promising idea and pursue starting a venture.Fellows will have access to a broad array of faculty‐discoveredtechnologies including concepts that go from the idea to the issuedpatent stages.
